It's Overwhelming...

I hear this often from clients. They run lab work, I interpret the labs through a functional coaching lens, create a protocol and then we meet to discuss results and I give recommendations. Inevitably, the next sound/word I hear from them is a big sigh and "Wow". Why? Because it's a lot!

When I work with clients, we address their diet, rest, exercise, stress and discuss supplements. We focus on these areas to address healing opportunities discovered in the lab work where we assess hormones, immune function, digestion, detoxification, energy production and the nervous system. I'll say it again.

It's a lot!

I know. And when I'm working with a client on Zoom or in person, I can see the glazed over look and know they are thinking "how am I ever going to do all of this?". If a client doesn't sign up for coaching, I provide them with recommendations, they walk out the door and they are almost never successful in addressing their health. Let's face it, if this were easy, they would have already done it.

It's a lot!

Remember when you were a kid and you had some passion for something? What did your parents do? Or maybe it's your own children who have a passion for something, what have you done for them? Likely, your parent or, maybe you, have hired a coach or a teacher to nurture that passion. There are all kinds of coaches out there to help people grow and improve upon their passions. Think about it...acting coaches, sports coaches, voice coaches, art coaches, spiritual coaches, public speaking coaches, writing coaches, the list goes on and on. It seems that whatever your child is into, there's a coach to help them learn and grow. You may be thinking...

Why isn't that a thing for adults?

Good question. It seems that somewhere along the way, society decided that adults should have all the answers and seeking support to help them learn and grow was weak. That makes absolutely zero sense. Of course we still need support as adults. When I discuss coaching with potential clients, I see people who are strong and determined. People who have reached out and decided that they were worth the investment and were ready to change. Just like the parents who pay for private batting coaches. They are investing in their child's future just like those seeking functional coaching, life coaching or any other coaching...they are investing in their future!

I think that's something to be proud of!

If you are struggling to make life or health changes on your own, reach out. Be proud of your decision to seek support. Be proud that you made yourself a priority. Be proud that you are normalizing seeking support when you need it.

The next generation is watching you.
